Gir Forest, the only place in the world where you can see Asiatic lions in their natural habitat! Enjoy a thrilling safari that takes you through the rugged terrain of this predominantly dry deciduous forest that offers the perfect camouflage for the light brown skinned Asiatic Lions. Sasan Gir forest is home to over 500 lions, 300 leopards, 40 other species of reptile and amphibian animals, as well as hyenas, Indian foxes, Chowsingha and not to mention the zillion species of birds that reside here.     The picturesque island town of Diu, instilled with Portuguese charm, is located some 95 km from Sasan Gir. It was a famed Portuguese colony from 1539 to 1961, the remains of which can be seen in its churches, temples and other historic buildings. The pristine beaches of Diu and their water sports activities are a huge attraction to visitors.

    Famously considered to be one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and counted one amongst the four important pilgrimage destinations of Hindus, Somnath is a place not to be missed. Located just 45 km away from Sasan, the Somnath temple boasts of some really intricate and incredible carvings. Historically and architecturally acclaimed, the temple was built sometime between 320 and 500AD and has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries. The current structure was built in 1950.

    Junagadh is a medieval town with many attractions that will keep you busy for a full day. The city is home to Sakkarbaug Zoo, which is home to predatory cats from around the world. One can also see the 2000 year old Ashokan edict also known as the Junagadh Inscription. Mahabat Maqbara and its intricately crafted minarets are a sight to behold whereas, the Darbar Hall Museum will give you a peak into the history of the region and its rulers.
